Product Information
1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-beta-carboline hydrochloride (AMPC) is a pyridine derivative that has minimal inhibitory concentration against a variety of bacteria. AMPC is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is also resistant to beta lactamase. This compound has been shown to have potent antibacterial activity and may be used as an alternative treatment for bacterial infections. AMPC binds with the nitro group in the triazole ring, which is the site of inhibition for the enzyme DNA gyrase. The broad spectrum of this antibiotic makes it an attractive candidate for use in treating infections caused by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus anthracis, and Clostridium perfringens.
