Product Information
- 4-(4-Nitrophenyl)-3-Buten-2-One
4-(4-Nitrophenyl)but-3-en-2-one is an organocatalyst that is used to catalyze the synthesis of chlorides and supercritical carbon dioxide. It has also been shown to be a potential antibacterial agent that can inhibit the growth of bacteria by preventing their ribosomes from making proteins needed for cell division. 4-(4-Nitrophenyl)but-3-en-2-one also has ionic liquid properties, which makes it soluble in organic solvents such as acetone. This allows it to be used as a solvent in chemical reactions, such as the Aldol condensation, which converts esters into ketones or alcohols.
