Product Information
4,6-Dihydroxyquinoline is a metabolite of the quinoline derivative 4,6-dichloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline. It is an inhibitor of insulin and serotonin synthesis. This compound has been shown to increase plasma concentrations of fatty acids in rats. The inhibitory effect on the biosynthesis of 4,6-dihydroxyquinoline may be due to its ability to competitively inhibit xanthurenic acid synthase activity. 4,6-Dihydroxyquinoline has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the enzymes that produce hippuric acid and other quinolines from amino acids.
