Sodium 3-hydroxypropane-1-sulfonate is a proton donor that functions in a variety of treatments, such as the expansion or coating of membranes. It also synthesizes phosphonates and alkyl groups to coat surfaces and prevent delamination. The layered structure of this chemical allows it to attack anionic membranes by expanding or overlaying them. This chemical is also used in the production of cycle intermediates for the manufacture of polymers.
