Tetrakis(trimethylsilyl) orthosilicate (TMSOSiMe4) is a solid phase extraction reagent that is used for the determination of fatty acids in wastewater. TMSOSiMe4 is also used to extract organic and inorganic compounds from polymer films, as well as to measure the uptake of chemical structures present in an organic solvent. Tetrakis(trimethylsilyl) orthosilicate has been shown to react with functional groups on polymerized covid-19 pandemic virus, producing a polymer film.
