Product Information
- 2-phenylindazole
2-Phenyl-2H-indazole is a synthetic compound that has been used to treat cancer. 2-Phenyl-2H-indazole has been shown to be effective in the treatment of trichomonas vaginalis, which is a parasitic infection that can cause infertility and other problems in women. 2-Phenyl-2H-indazole is also fluorescent in solution, which makes it useful as a staining agent for DNA. The reaction mechanism of the synthesis of 2-phenyl-2H-indazole involves nucleophilic attack by an ethyl bromoacetate molecule on a phosphorus pentachloride molecule. This reaction produces phosphonium chloride and ethyl bromide. The phosphonium chloride then reacts with ethyl bromide, producing 2-(chloromethyl)phenyldiazene and hydrogen chloride gas. The acid catalyst causes the product to react with an alkanoic acid
