Description

4-Methyl-N-tosylbenzenesulfonamide is a synthetic compound with a redox potential of +0.28 V vs. the standard hydrogen electrode and is synthesised from tosyl chloride and 4-methylbenzene sulfonyl chloride. It has been shown that this molecule has a high degree of stereoselectivity, and binds to active substances such as alkene or oxygenated functional groups. The binding of 4-methyl-N-tosylbenzenesulfonamide to these molecules enhances their rate of oxidation and decreases their rate of reduction. This molecule also reacts with hydroxyl groups, which can lead to an increase in the depression constant for these functional groups.
