Product Information

Name:
2-Phenyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione
Description:

2-Phenyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione is a phenyl derivative that can be synthesized by the reaction of 2,2'-azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) and pyridine. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an intermediate for drugs such as insulin. 2-Phenyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione has been shown to reduce insulin resistance in a number of studies. This compound also has the ability to bind with DNA bases and inhibit esterification reactions. The synthesis of this compound is usually done using an asymmetric synthesis technique that uses radiation to induce intramolecular hydrogen transfer from one molecule to another. The resulting product has optical properties that are different from those of the starting material.
