4-Methoxybenzaldehyde oxime is a reaction rate of the dehydration of polyvinyl chloride. It has been shown to react with picolinic acid and form an aldoxime, which can be cleaved by a base or an inorganic acid to form a carbonyl group. The carbonyl group can then undergo further reactions with other functional groups. 4-Methoxybenzaldehyde oxime reacts with chloride to form methyl ethyl chloride, which can be used as a solvent for organic solutions.
