4'-Nitro-2-phenylacetophenone (4NPA) is a polycondensation agent that is used to produce polyesters, polycarbonates, and polyurethanes. It can also be used as a flammability enhancer in polymers such as polystyrene, polyethylene, and polypropylene. 4NPA has been shown to have thermal stability up to 400°C and has been shown to react with thiophene to produce an index of 3.5. This compound is not combustible at room temperature.
