Description

2-[4-(Dimethylamino)styryl]-1-ethylpyridinium iodide is a fluorescent probe that can be used to study copper chloride. It is the first fluorescent derivative of a pyridine-containing molecule. The fluorescence intensity of this probe is sensitive to changes in the mitochondrial membrane potential and antimicrobial agents, as well as changes in the intracellular environment. This probe has been used to detect bone cancer and acute toxicities in vivo and is also useful for studying disulfide bonds in biological samples.
