Product Information

Name:
2-bromo-1,1-dimethylcyclopropane
Description:

2-Bromo-1,1-dimethylcyclopropane is an organic compound that is an alcohol with a bromine atom on the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl group. This compound has been shown to be insensitive to electrostatic forces and stereospecificity. The isomer of 2-bromo-1,1-dimethylcyclopropane can be synthesized by metallation of cyclopropylcarbinyl chloride with sodium borohydride in the presence of water. This reaction forms a mixture of cis and trans isomers, which can be separated by chromatography. The stereoselective synthesis of 2-bromo-1,1-dimethylcyclopropane can also be achieved by reacting furanoterpenes with aldehydes in the presence of perillene as a phase transfer catalyst.
