Description

Methyl 3-methoxyisobutyrate is an organic solvent that is used for extraction of volatile substances from plant materials. Methyl 3-methoxyisobutyrate is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals and pesticides. Methyl 3-methoxyisobutyrate has been shown to have antimicrobial properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial proteins. This compound also has been shown to be toxic to rat liver cells and can cause cytotoxicity in rats.
