N-(3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)acetamide is an antihypertensive drug that inhibits the absorption of endogenous substances from the intestine. It is a prodrug that is converted to its active form acetaminophen by hydrolysis in the liver. N-(3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)acetamide has been shown to be effective against Trichomonas vaginalis, which causes vaginitis, and it has been used for this purpose. It has also been shown to have potent antagonist activity against angiotensin II receptors and calcium channels, both of which are involved in blood pressure regulation. N-(3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)acetamide can be administered orally or intravenously. The drug is excreted by the kidneys and eliminated in faeces as well as in urine as acetaminophen.
