Description:
Methyl cis-9,10-methyleneoctadecanoate is a fatty acid that can be synthesized by the fatty acid synthase. This enzyme is encoded by the FASN gene and is responsible for the synthesis of long chain fatty acids. Methyl cis-9,10-methyleneoctadecanoate can be used to produce various products such as biofuel, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. This compound is also involved in the production of cyclopropane fatty acids which are found in organisms that have been genetically modified to produce this compound.
