Product Information
5,12-Bis((triisopropylsilyl)ethynyl)tetracene (bisTET) is a monolayer organic semiconductor that emits light in the near-infrared region of the spectrum. It has been used for the fabrication of devices for optical communications and other applications. BisTET's emission wavelength, which is determined by its molecular structure, can be tuned by changing the ligands on its surface. The small-angle x-ray diffraction technique has been used to study the spacing between molecules on a surface and transfer efficiencies. The efficiency of electron transport through bisTET is high due to the low density of states in its molecular orbitals. The molecular orbital theory predicts that this should be true for all molecules with π electrons such as tetracene.
