Product Information
- 5-Nitro-2-Phenoxypyridine
5-Nitro-2-phenoxypyridine is a compound that is used to study the transformation of nitroaromatic compounds. It can be produced by the oxidation of 5-nitrobenzene with vanadium in the presence of pyrocatechol. The n-oxide form of this compound can be obtained by heating 5-nitro-2-phenoxypyridine with hydrazine in the presence of nitric acid, which produces hydroxylation and intramolecular reactions. This process also results in phenols and catechol as products.
