Product Information
- dimethyl [(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-2H-isoindol-2-yl)methyl]phosphonate
Dimethyl (phthalimidomethyl)phosphonate is a water-soluble compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity. It is able to bind to the active site of neutral endopeptidase, an enzyme that cleaves peptides at the carboxyl terminus of amino acids. Dimethyl (phthalimidomethyl)phosphonate binds with alkoxycarbonyl functional groups and amide bonds, which are stable compounds. This molecule is reactive and will react with water molecules and tripeptides in order to form carbonyl groups. The carbonyl group then reacts with tetrazole, forming a covalent bond between the two molecules, giving this compound antibacterial properties.
