Product Information
- 5-Nitro-1,2-benzisoxazole-3-carboxylic acid
- 1,2-Benzisoxazole-3-carboxylic acid, 5-nitro-
5-Nitro-3-carboxybenzisoxazole is an uncatalyzed, hydrophobic, kinetic, catalytic mechanism that is used to produce carboxylates. The reaction proceeds through a spontaneous process and the product of the reaction is a carboxylate. This uncatalyzed reaction has been shown to proceed by a ligand-substrate binding mechanism. The substrate binds to the 5-nitro group, which then spontaneously reacts with the carboxylate group of the second molecule to form the product. Hydrophobic interactions are responsible for this type of binding. Structural studies have shown that there are no other interactions between these two groups that bind together. The rate of this reaction depends on a number of factors including temperature and concentration of reactants.
