It is an orange solid that can be obtained by reacting methoxy groups with boron and magnesium. 2-(Methoxycarbonyl)benzeneboronic acid, pinacol ester is used in the synthesis of alkoxy groups as catalysts for organic reactions. It also has photochromic properties due to its ability to change color when exposed to light. This product has a reaction yield of 75%.
