Product Information

Name:
Diphenyl(2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine
Description:

Diphenyl (2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine is a linear polymer that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It is synthesized by the reaction of 2-methoxyaniline with phosphorus pentachloride, and has been shown to inhibit prostate carcinoma growth in vitro. Diphenyl (2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine also inhibits bacterial growth at low concentrations, and can be used as an antibacterial agent. This compound binds to chloride ions and forms an ion pair complex. The complex then undergoes thermal decomposition, producing chloride gas, which kills bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis. Diphenyl (2-methoxyphenyl)phosphine has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
