Cerium zirconium oxide nanofiber is a material that consists of nanometer-sized fibres with a diameter of about 10 nm. The fibres are made from cerium and zirconium oxides and can be used in the production of electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors. Cerium zirconium oxide nanofiber displays high surface area and optimum concentration for electrochemical reactions. It has an acidic surface that can be used to bind copper ions and other metal ions to form a complex. This complex provides higher conductivity and thus better energy storage properties than pure cerium or zirconium oxide. Cerium zirconium oxide nanofiber also has inorganic properties due to its chemical composition (ceria-zirconia).
