Description:
6,6'-Dichloro-2,2'-bipyridine is a diphenylmethane chloride that is used in coatings and non-polar solvents. It is commonly used as an intermediate to synthesize other molecules. 6,6'-Dichloro-2,2'-bipyridine can be synthesized from the reaction of acetonitrile with dichloromethane in the presence of a base and an imine. This compound can also be prepared by reacting dextrose with tetrahydrofuran in the presence of a base in the presence of hydrochloric acid. 6,6'-Dichloro-2,2'-bipyridine has been shown to have reactive properties that allow it to form amidations and macrocycles.
