N-(4-Methyl-2-Pyridyl)benzenesulfonamide is an antibacterial agent that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosomal RNA of the bacterium. It binds to the ribosomal RNA of gram-negative bacteria and prevents mRNA synthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. N-(4-Methyl-2-Pyridyl)benzenesulfonamide has a broad spectrum of activity against gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, Serratia marcescens and Shigella flexneri.
