Product Information

Name:
(R)-(’)-Hexahydromandelic acid
Synonyms:
  • Cyclohexyl(Hydroxy)Acetic Acid
  • (2R)-cyclohexyl(hydroxy)ethanoic acid
Description:

(R)-(’)-Hexahydromandelic acid is an inhibitor of the NS3 protease that cleaves the polyprotein into the mature proteins of hepatitis C virus (HCV). It has been shown to inhibit the activity of HCV protease in vitro, and it is a potential candidate for drug development. (R)-(’)-Hexahydromandelic acid was synthesized by solvating racemic methylmandelate with formaldehyde and hydrochloric acid. The molecular formula of (R)-(’)-hexahydromandelic acid is C6H8O6, and its molecular weight is 226.16. This compound has been shown to have antiviral properties against HCV in vitro, but more research is needed to determine whether it can be used as a treatment for hepatitis.
