Product Information
- 1H-Thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-2(3H)-one,tetrahydro-4-(5-hydroxypentyl)-, [3aS-(3aa,4b,6aa)]-
- D-Biotinol
Biotinol is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that is found in the cell membrane and is important for the growth of Staphylococcus. It can be metabolized by bacterial enzymes to produce heparin, which has been used as an anticoagulant or anti-inflammatory agent. Biotinol also has been shown to have a positive effect on autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis. Biotinol has not been widely studied, but it may be beneficial for conditions that are characterized by a lack of growth factors.
Biotinol is synthesized from the molecule biotin and has a molecular weight of approximately 500 Daltons. The magnetic particles are coated with biotin and have a detection sensitivity of approximately 0.02 nmoles per milliliter (2 picograms per milliliter). The particle size is 10 nm and the polyunsaturated fatty acid chain length is 16 carbons long.
