3,4-Dimethylbenzotrifluoride is a benzylic cyclic compound that has been shown to have an oxidase activity for amines. It is also a pyrrolidinyl monoamine and an allylic monoamine. The active site of the flavoenzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO) has been shown to be stable with this probe. 3,4-Dimethylbenzotrifluoride has been used as a probe for the MAO enzyme and has been found to be structurally similar to other MAO probes.
