Description:
Bisantrene is a chemotherapy drug used to treat cancer. It induces apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancer cells by interacting with the mitochondria membrane potential and inhibiting ATP production. Bisantrene has been shown to be effective against leukemia cells and some types of cancerous tumors in mice. This drug is also toxic to the heart muscle and can cause congestive heart failure, so it should only be administered under close medical supervision.
