It is used as a solvent for industrial purposes such as in the production of polyurethane coatings and in the manufacture of paints and varnishes. It also has absorbing properties, which can be utilized to extract lithium from brines. 4-Aminobenzo-12-crown-4 is used as a catalyst in the filtration process.
