Description:
1-[2-(1-Piperidyl)phenyl]ethanol is an aliphatic amine that is used in the synthesis of epoxides. It reacts with styrene oxide to form 1,2-epoxystyrene. 1-[2-(1-Piperidyl)phenyl]ethanol is also a ring-opening agent for the preparation of epoxides from oxiranes and peracids. This compound can be used as a catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols and amines to carbonyl compounds, such as carboxylic acids. The use of this compound has been shown to be regioselective, giving the desired product in high yield and purity.
