Product Information
Di(naphthalen-2-yl)phosphine oxide (DNPO) is a reagent used in organic chemistry for the oxidative and dehydrative coupling of amines, alcohols, and other functional groups. DNPO is also used as an additive to improve yields in cross-coupling reactions. This compound can be prepared by reacting 2-naphthol with phosphorus pentoxide followed by oxidation of the resulting diol with nitric acid. The method is catalyzed by organocatalysis using copper salts or organocopper compounds. DNPO has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for biomolecular synthesis such as benzothiazoles, dialkyl phosphates, and methylphosphonates.
