3-[(2E)-3,7-Dimethylocta-2,6-dien-1-yl]-2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-(2-phenylethyl)benzoic acid (3DHHB) is an inhibitor of mitochondrial biogenesis. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria by inhibiting their respiratory electron transport chain. 3DHHB inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and mediators by various immune cells in vitro. The compound also has a chemopreventive effect on liver cancer through its ability to induce apoptosis in liver cells.
