Product Information
N-(5-Chloropyridin-2-yl)carbamothioylthiophene-2-carboxamide (CPTC) is a tyrosinase inhibitor that is used in the treatment of skin cancer. CPTC irreversibly binds to the active site of tyrosinase and inhibits its enzymatic activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cultured human melanoma cells and to reduce the number of skin lesions in mice with induced melanoma. This agent also affects other molecular targets, such as protein kinases and phosphatases, which may be important for its anticancer activities. CPTC has been shown to interact with peptides containing amino acid sequences that are present in substrate proteins, including tyrosinase, which could be an important mechanism for its action on these proteins.
