Trans-4-(Dimethylamino)cyclohexanol (TMA) is an organic compound that has a molecular formula of C6H14N2O. TMA is the parent compound of a class of compounds known as cyclohexyltriamines. TMA has two stereoisomers that are mirror images of each other due to the presence of two hydroxyl groups on opposite sides of the molecule. The fragmentation pattern for TMA shows three major peaks in the mass spectrum, with molecular ion peaks at m/z=128, 147, and 177. The intensity ratio for these peaks is approximately 1:1:1. This ratio can be used to identify which peak corresponds to which stereoisomer. The electron ionization mass spectrum for TMA shows m/z values at 125, 137, 149, 157, 167, 179 and 191 corresponding to the same three major peaks observed in the spectra. In addition to these major peaks there are also minor peaks
