Product Information
4-(Propan-2-yl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one is an alkylating agent that has been shown to be a good chiral synthon. It reacts with chloride to form the corresponding chloride salt and an oxazolidinone, which can be used as a precursor in the synthesis of other compounds. This compound also shows stereogenic activity and is a good candidate for catalytic asymmetric dihydroxylation. The hydroxyl group on the 4 position of the oxazolidinone is cleaved by acid to yield two molecules of propanal.
