Product Information
1,5-Dimethyl-4-phenylimidazolidin-2-one is a heterocyclic compound that has been shown to have atrial and cardiac tissue activity. It is synthesized in an asymmetric synthesis from 1,5-dimethylpyrazole with the aid of methyl iodide and ethyl acetate. This agent has been shown to be able to penetrate ventricular myocardium, but not skeletal muscle. The mechanism of action for this agent is unknown. It has been hypothesized that it may act through adenosine receptors and inhibit the phosphodiesterase enzyme. 1,5-Dimethyl-4-phenylimidazolidin-2-one also shows regulatory effects in animals and semipurified preparations of rat heart homogenates.
