Product Information
(5E)-5-(4-Hydroxybenzylidene)-1,3-thiazolidine-2,4-dione is a tyrosinase inhibitor that has been shown to have inhibitory activities against tyrosinase. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme tyrosinase, which is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of tyrosine to dopa and then dopaquinone. This compound has been shown to reduce melanin production by inhibiting the oxidation of dopaquinone to dopachrome. The inhibition of tyrosinase activity can be attributed to its binding with the active site and also by oxidation of the substrate. This product binds to the iron atom in the active site and prevents it from reacting with oxygen, thereby preventing oxidation of dopaquinone.
