1-(2-Bromo-2-methyl-1-oxopropoxy)-2,5-pyrrolidinedione (BMOP) is a hydrophilic polymer that can be used as a coating material. It has been shown to have a low degree of hydrophobicity and can be activated with dodecyl groups. BMOP is characterized by its high primary amino content, which makes it suitable for the production of coatings. This polymer can form micelles with water when it is dissolved in water and provides an increased surface tension at the interface between the BMOP and water phases. BMOP has also been shown to be suitable for use as a coating on polyacrylamide gels for electrophoresis techniques because it does not interfere with the migration of proteins during electrophoresis.
