N-[(1S,2R)-2-Hydroxy-1-[(hydroxyamino)carbonyl]propyl]-4-[[4-(4-morpholinylmethyl)phenyl]ethynyl]benzamide is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the biosynthesis of lipopolysaccharide. The drug binds to the enzyme deacetylase, which is essential for the biosynthesis of lipopolysaccharide. The drug also has hydroxamic acid groups and a carboxy group, which are responsible for its antibiotic activity. N-[(1S,2R)-2-Hydroxy-1-[(hydroxyamino)carbonyl]propyl]-4-[[4-(4-morpholinylmethyl)phenyl]ethynyl]benzamide has been shown to be effective against strains of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
