Description:
Presatovir is an inhibitor drug that is used to treat the symptoms of pandemic influenza. It is a nucleoside analogue that inhibits viral RNA polymerase, leading to inhibition of virus replication. Presatovir has shown no significant side effects in animal studies and it has been shown to be effective against respiratory diseases caused by viruses. Presatovir binds to the active site of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) enzyme and prevents the addition of nucleotides to DNA, resulting in a stop in viral DNA synthesis and virus production. Presatovir also specifically binds to monoclonal antibody-resistant strains of syncytial virus infection, making it a useful diagnostic tool for these viruses.
