Product Information
2-Ethynyl-3-nitropyridine is a product formed through the reaction of nitroethane with ethyne in the presence of a palladium catalyst. 2-Ethynyl-3-nitropyridine is also a byproduct of the reaction between indole and nitrous acid. 2-Ethynyl-3-nitropyridine can be synthesized from methylamine and carbon monoxide in the presence of a base. It has been shown that the product formation can be catalyzed by both nonselective and selective conditions, such as palladium and tin, respectively. The cyclization of 2-Ethynyl-3-nitropyridine yields 3-(2'-pyridinyl)-2'-propenal (1), which can be used in organic synthesis to produce other products.
