Product Information
Methyl 2-chloro-5-methyl-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylate is a drug that has been shown to have therapeutic effects on age-related macular degeneration. It has an affinity for retinol binding protein and isostere, which are proteins in the eye that bind to retinol. Methyl 2-chloro-5-methyl-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylate also blocks the uptake of all trans retinal by the retina. This leads to the accumulation of retinol in the eye and prevents its oxidation to form toxic compounds that can lead to retinal cell death.
