Description:

4-Cyano-4-[3-(cyclopentyloxy)-4-methoxyphenyl]cyclohexanecarboxylic acid is an inhibitor of phosphodiesterases. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) 4 and PDE5, which are enzymes that break down cyclic nucleotides. 4-Cyano-4-[3-(cyclopentyloxy)-4-methoxyphenyl]cyclohexanecarboxylic acid has been shown to be safe and well tolerated in clinical trials for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. It also inhibits the production of collagenase in a model for skin inflammation and increases the amount of cilomilast in the lung, suggesting that it may have antiinflammatory properties.
