NH125 is a potent inhibitor of eEF-2 kinase, which is responsible for the phosphorylation and inactivation of eEF-2. This inhibition leads to inhibition of protein synthesis, cell death by apoptosis, and tumor growth inhibition. NH125 has been shown to be effective against influenza virus and other viruses that require protein synthesis to replicate their genomes. NH125 also has potent cytotoxicity against tumors in animal models. Clinical studies have shown that NH125 can induce significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells, including leukemia cells and lymphoma cells.
