Product Information

Name:
1-Methylimidazole bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide
Description:

1-Methylimidazole bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide is a new hydrogen-bonded ion pair that consists of a cationic imidazole and an anionic trifluoromethanesulfonate. The molecule was designed to show high viscosity in the gas phase, which is useful for nuclear reactors. It has been studied by simulation techniques and it has been shown that it can be used as a solvent or in the form of solutes to stabilize radioactive materials. The radiation interactions have also been studied and it has been found that 1-methylimidazole bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide shows thermal expansion behaviour similar to water.
