This reagent is an active ester of DL-malic acid with a PEG chain, which can be coupled to amino acids through activation by EDC and NHS. MAL-dPEG4-Acid has been shown to react with human serum albumin (HSA) and streptavidin (SA). The carboxylate group on the compound is involved in the formation of amide bonds with amino acid residues, allowing for the synthesis of peptides.
