Product Information
2-Butyl-7-chloro-1H-indene (2BCI) is a heterocycle, which is also known as an ethenylbenzene. This compound has been shown to have vasomotor symptoms and monoamine reuptake inhibition effects. 2BCI was found to be effective in treating diabetic neuropathy, and it may act by inhibiting cardiac function. 2BCI inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and dopamine by binding to the transporter proteins that are responsible for removing these neurotransmitters from synapses. In addition, this compound is used as a diluent for nitroaromatic explosives, such as TNT and RDX, because it reduces the sensitivity of nitroaromatic compounds to shock and friction. 2BCI can also be used as a carboxyalkylating agent or an alkylating agent in organic synthesis. It reacts with halides or cyclopropanes to form carboxylic acids
