7-Chloro-2-propyl-1H-indene is a hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CHCl. It is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and n-hexane homologue of 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene. 7-Chloro-2-propyl-1H-indene is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an oral insecticide. Its insecticidal activity may be due to its ability to act as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor by competing for the active site on this enzyme. This chemical has hepatoprotective effects against CCl4 and chloroform toxicity in rats. 7-Chloro-2-propyl-1Hindene also has hexane, yields, acid halide and heterocycles properties.
