Product Information
3-(Trifluoroacetyl)coumarin is a nucleophilic reagent that can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It is also an effective inhibitor of the growth of plants such as Curvularia, Phytophthora, and Solidago. 3-(Trifluoroacetyl)coumarin has been shown to inhibit the growth of these fungi by interfering with DNA replication. The trifluoromethyl group on 3-(trifluoroacetyl)coumarin increases its reactivity and allows it to bind to the phosphorus atom in DNA. This prevents the formation of the phosphate-adenine complex, which is required for DNA replication.
