Product Information
2-Methoxy-4-(2-nitroethyl)phenol is a dienone with alkylation activity. It is an experimental molecule that has been shown to have biological activity in the form of phenolic hydroxylation. The intramolecular reaction of 2-methoxy-4-(2-nitroethyl)phenol with methylene chloride yields a tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative, which can then be hydrolyzed to the corresponding proaporphine derivative. This synthesis can be repeated cyclically to synthesize conjugated alkaloids.
